I've been wearing Crocs, I have a pair in black and a pair in purple. They're fun and bouncy to walk around in. I got my hair cut and I put a blonde color in it (a dark blonde, so I'm more light golden brown headed, than blonde) and the compliments have been a much needed boost to my ego. Even customers who are mostly strangers have been complimentary! It's nice. I've been buying more form fitting clothes as well and blouses in girly colors; pink, lavendar, ect. Been wearing makeup, lipstick...Isn't it funny how little things like looking after one's appearance can really cheer a person up? I'm smiling more at work and my attitude has changed.

A few days before Memorial Day we went to Dad's grave and put flowers on it. Grandma Dorothy is buried a short distance away from Dad and the flowers we put there last year for her were still there. I kinda like that she had them brightening up the place for all that time.

My sister went with us this time and we walked around, looking at some of the graves and Mom pointed out that my Dad is buried right across from William Clark, you know, of Lewis and Clark? It's a lovely spot on a hill, there are trees all around and since there are many old stones mixed in with new there's a true sense of history in the place.

My grandpa Hook is the one who bought the plots in this cemetary. Some years before his death he showed us around the place and pointed out that his spot is just down from the Anhueser mausoleum. I was still a teenager so I crawled up into a window to look inside. It's completely tiled and if memory serves me right, the Anhueser wings are represented in there in stained glass.

I'm dropping names here like whoa, but it's kinda cool to me to think that my family, even though in death, will always be close to pieces of St Louis history.

And every time I pick up a Lewis and Clark book at the store to put away, I will think of my Dad. :)
