The birds!

I had the strangest experience while walking home. As I approached this old abandoned house, I saw that there were all these squirrels and robins in the front yard. They ran/flew off as I drew nearer and with each step the birds would fly from the tree where they just landed, onto another tree. They criss-crossed each other, twittering as they flew, obviously upset that I had the audacity to continue my walk home. Finally more trees opened up further from me and they abandoned the ones along the side of the road. I sort of liked my strange escort! The rest of the walk was rather lonely without the cacophony of bird chatter.
