I would never get used to Kira's surprises. I wasn't certain, as I took in the sight of her holding the oak paddle and the crystal dildo, on which of us she meant to use these objects. I have had no prior experience either giving or receiving that sort of thing.
I was still reeling from the shock of this gentle caring woman not only owning these things, but the fact that they had a home, tucked away under lock and key. I suddenly remembered Kira, the first time I met her, a Patricia Highsmith book in her hand and wondered. Perhaps this unexpected turn shouldn't have been a total shock after all.
Then the absurdity struck me and I started to laugh. She blushed and dropped the crystal and wood objects back into the drawer, then started to close it.
As sharply as my world had tilted, it righted itself. this blushing woman was the Kira I knew. None of it was shocking any longer. I could do this, whatever it was. I could see in Kira the hope that I could accept this, the desire that I wouldn't reject her and the need for me to consider her request normal.
I scrambled off the bed and ran to her, placing my hand over the one holding the key in the lock.
"Plese," I begged her, "take them out again."
Her head lowered, her voice soft she asked, "are you sure?"
My hand tightened over hers. "Yes," I told her, "please," I repeated.
With crimson cheeks she slid the key out of the lock and pulled on the drawer handle. Before she took them out she said, "don't do this just because I want it, but because you do," then she looked up.
I kissed her, coaxing her mouth open until she relaxed and sighed into mine. "I want it." I told her and surprised myself with the truth of it. Sometime during the past few minutes I did and very badly at that. I was shaking, dying to know what we would do. The suspense was making me twitchy.
"Show me, Kira."
And then she did.
