12. When terrorists knocked over the World Trade Center (9/11/2001)

I was still in bed, had been up chatting in IM with a friend who lives in Brooklyn, so I hadn't turned on the news or anything. I was on the bus and heard something about buildings falling in NY, it didn't hit me what I was actually hearing until a few minutes. Oh yes, buildings falling, how interesting The second building fell while I was in Walgreens and heard the aftermath on the radio. I was in a daze. What about the friend from Brooklyn, what about the other one who worked in the mayor's office and who could see the trade center from her window? It was a day from hell. The store closed early, but I worked my regular hours. I remember running to a local pub that has TVs and sitting at the bar eating a bowl of stew and watching the towers fall over and over...
