I came back to a mess of work. They reorganized some sections while I was gone, but they were the easy fix ones. Apparently they have decided to leave the big change to me. I believe I will wait until forced to do it. Mainly because I don't agree with what they want to do.
The big gossip was that Ashley, one of the assistant managers, got engaged over the weekend. Angelo, the store manager announced it yesterday in the monring meeting and not one person congratualted her or even said a thing. From what I understand, the silence went on for a few minutes.
Now let me clarify that Ashley has had clashes with quite a few people on staff. She and I have butted heads on more than one occasion. It took me a long time to figure out that if I leave her alone, I pretty ,uch get what I want. Still, she's an odd one. However, I kinda think it's cruel that when a big announcement is made about someone who has worked at a place for over 5 years and she's moving to another state, it's a little rude not to say something.
So, I peeked in her office and did just that. And she just lit up. And it made me feel good, because instead of being nasty, I behaved like a human being. I still don't think much of her. But at least when she leaves, it won't be on a bad note from my end.
Meh, in other news, I got left a ton of work by my staff and it will take the rest of the week to catch up, looks like. *sigh* It is nice to be back, in certain respects, because I do love working with books. I can just do without the snarkiness of the store community. I'd like to just work and bypass all that. If it's possible in any way. *chuckles* Which means it's likely not.
