Three years ago at this time I was finally able to go to lunch and see for myself the footage that everyone had been talking about all day while I was at work. On my mind were all the New Yorkers I knew. One of whom was going job hunting that day. I had already gotten word of all of them except for a woman who went by the SN Meerkat. We didn't hear anything from her until 9PM central. She had been on the subway, had to exit to the street when the trains were all closed down and emerge from the safety of underground to the hell above where there was smoke, ash and flying glass. She spent that day running in spike heels, fearing for her life. She worked for the Mayor's office, was supposed to be in a meeting in the WTC, but she was late...
She made it and today, in our large e-mail group, she's talking about the orthodox wedding she and her fiance are planning. A Polish/Russian wedding with both languages represented. On a sad day of remembrance, this in particular gives me hope. Three years ago she was talking about running in heels so fast her feet were raw from blisters to a wedding in which the bridesmaids will wear wine colored dresses and hers will be ivory. I hope other survivors have similair stories.
