Three people I have known, met, have passed away this week. Just today it was announced that Majel Barrett Roddenberry has died. Funny thing is that I was just thinking of her on Tuesday, when I rolled up my Earth Final Conflict poster that she signed several years ago. On that same day I got news (while ordering a chicken at the grocery store, nonsensically enough) that a good friend had passed away over the weekend. A lady from work who was funny and intelligent and who dealt with way more physical illness than any person should. She handled everything with grace and humor. And that's how I'll remember her, as the witty, intelligent lady who knew her books like nearly no one else in my store.
Then, just yesterday, a nice guy from the cafe was found in his house, by his wife. Both he and the other lady were relatively young; fifties at the most. I can't imagine what his wife is going through, they have a teenage soon. It's just so sad and shocking. And I've been speechless here, until now. I didn't want their passing to go without comment.
Sleep well, you sweet people, you will be missed.
