Well, OK, I've turned into a yarn tramp. In St Louis I visited Myer House, which is a crafts store with quilting supplies on the first floor and 5 rooms of yarn on the second. Yes, that's correct, 5 rooms and one is completely filled with sock yarn (typed cock yarn at first *g*)

I bought this really beautiful yarn there that is all silk and benefits a women's shelter in Nepal. It's called Mango Moon. It was also my first experience with a twisted skein and I tell you, getting that #*&@! rolled up was a piece of work and took two of us.

Today I got all my odds and ends of yarn together, including projects in the works *looks sheepish*I know I don't have as much by way of yarn as many crafters, but it does fill two plastic handled containers. I'm absurdly pleased with that. LOL

The other day I bought circular knitting needles for the first time. I think they will take some getting used to, but I liked having these small sticks in my hands, as opposed to the long ones that currently hold the scarf project I've been puttering with for months. I'm a much faster crocheter than a knitter. And I'm at the stage of crocheting where I'd like to do more than simple stitches. I'm also ADDish and my brain turns away halfway through reading instructions (OMG, complicated, just single crochet!)

A magazine I bought tonight is called Easy Crochet and has a pattern in there for a sweater that has cables and stuff. This is supposed to be easy?!! Will probably stick to the smaller and easier projects for now. What I need are other hands that can show me things. I do much better that way than pecking my way through instructions.

Anyway, my project to get scarves to my close circle of friends continues. My current one is made of a burmese cotton blend. Single crochet, because I love the look of the stitches with the slightly knobby yarn. It's rather springy and super soft. Not sure what yarn I want to try next. I do have on my mind that I'd love to crochet a purse for my sister. I saw a lady today who had a crocheted purse that one side was a granny square and the rest pieced together with chain stitches and double crochet panels. If I get this figured out, I could do several granny squares and piece them together, make a single crochet panel that stretches from one end of the purse to the other and create a flap with more granny squares. That just leaves the handle to figure out. Or strap, rather. And whether I want to felt the whole thing. *wibbles*

Of course, what will probably happen, if the purse turns out well, is that she will tell me I should start making and selling them, lol. Her brain is just wired that way. Anyway, that's my boring yarn chatter for now! *skips off*
