A while back they cracked down at work about people who take their paid breaks with their unpaid breaks (mind you, B&N had been allowing the combining of breaks for, pretty much, ever) and I had to rethink how I spent my lunch time. Fact of the matter is that I'd rather rest, than eat. So, I've been taking fruit and a package of block cheddar cheese and eating that, with other additions, like a salad, every so often.

The first thing I noticed, after eating more fruit, less salty takeout, is just how crummy I feel after eating McDonald's or places like it. My tastes have grown simpler and I get fuller on less. Through no voluntary effort on my part *g* the physical workload at my job has increased. This week I found myself stepping up and down from a stool, grabbing books from the top shelves of the 10 ft cases and then kneeling to put them on the bottom shelf, as I made the necessary shifting to accomodate the recategorization of several authors from Fiction, to Mystery. My legs were so sore, that last night I needed to soak in the tub (had to scrub it first, we normally only take showers.)

This morning I missed my bus, I do that alot. I've also resorted to calling cabs in recent months. Today I decided to walk. I did it in 20 minutes, made it to work on time and walked in feeling absolutely fantastic, despite my beet red face from the heat. I chug-a-lugged some OJ, brushed my teeth, pulled my hair back and the energy from the walk sustained me a good long time.

I lost a significant amount of my good mood and energy a few hours later, when I ate a cinnamon scone and a vanilla latte. So there's one answer for me, sugar is a bad as a bad thing can be for me. Had leg cramps later, but that's from the walk, of course.

Overall, even with the tiredness, leg crampiness, I feel good inside. My dinner was a salad and a spicy chicken sandwich from Wendy's. Perhaps not an organically good for me meal, lol. But nevertheless, I don't feel like I normally do after eating fast food.

Maybe that should be a goal, to go along with the better lunch habits. No Mickey D's or it's like, for more than once or twice a week.
