wyomingnot and karitawyr today for lunch, yarn shopping and slashy chatter. Lunch was yummy, we went to the Domo sushi bar and grill that's around the corner from my building. I had teriyaki beef and California rolls. I'm a sushi virgin (the crap served in buffets does NOT count) and so I wasn't aware that that pretty pile of what looked like salmon is actually ginger. Wow, so hot! But, as I gulped ice tea, I realised that the flavor really perked up the roll, which was somewhat bland without the ginger and the wasabi. My first time trying seaweed as well. Lovely lunch and excellent company, even if I was still being shy girl.
We went to the Studio afterward and salivated over the summer shipment of yarn. I was a good girl and controlled myself viciously. Of course it helped that they had a grab bag sale going on and I got several (partial) skeins for $10. I think we all know how I feel about bargains. :)
Best part of the day was sitting with the two ladies outside of a cute little coffee house and talking for a few hours about slash. I got a crash course in SGA (and SG1)and now I have to watch the whole thing from the beginning *slams fist on desk* NOW! *g*
And I confessed that will read most porn. But the stories have to have a dynamic I can get behind. My favorite McKayShep stories are the ones in which we see vulnerability behind the usual Rodney bluster. It's really easy to over do the bitching and moaning aspect of Rodney. And I love Carson. I mean, OK, so I love Scotsmen, I admit it! But Carson is so damn sweet and adorable. I wanna pinch his cheeks all the time. And Sheppard? I could really get behind any fic that highlights his physical fitness. I don't care about buff, what I like is that Joe Flanigan is physically tight and moves easily and runs like the wind. I'm not sure I'm explaining this well, because it's not an "oh god, drool" kind of thing (although that's part of it) it's um, just Joe! Like Ben Browder, he's a guy who takes care of himself and does physical roles well.
Anyway, that's my day and it was a good one. And I'm so glad we all finally got together, we've been trying for a year for a day like this, but something kept always coming up.
Oh! I can't believe I forgot to mention this.karitawyr and I used to live a few doors away, on the same floor, in the same dorm during the same period of time and we didn't know about it until today! I'm just, wow, completely floored by that. And I remember her now and why she has always seemed so familair. It simply boggles my mind. There were all these little; "oh, do you remember? Oh, yes I do!" kinda moments all afternoon. *boggles*
