The Shrub was in town today, for whatever, prolly giving support to Jim Talent in the upcoming election. *yawn*
His being in town is significant (and therefore annoying) because my bus was stopped and not allowed to move for 45 minutes until his motorcade passed. Folks on the bus made the best of it by joking and being otherwise pleasant. None of us were pleased, but what can you do?
Personally, I think it's an abuse of power.I can see closing off streets as he goes along, but closing down entire places for upwards of an hour because he might be on his way? And get this, the bus was rerouted this morning while they were welding manhole covers shut. That's right, when the presidential vehicle passes, all manholes have to be secured.
Ugh, so glad he's gone now!
Edit: I can't believe I forgot to mention that an ambulance, sirens and lights going, was turned away. Someone's life was possibly put in danger for the convenience of the President using an entire 20 blocks of the same street.
