I bought a crock pot last summer and it's just the perfect size (two quarts) for two people. And yesterday I cracked the crock. *facepalm* I thought that it would be no problem to find a replacement, I see them in the factory outlet stores all the time, so I figured I'd go to the Rival website and snag one there. No dice. So I tried other places, still no dice, but I can get a new, slightly larger one for $15, which is probably less than the replacement liner would cost.
Is it just me, or is that just irritating as all hell? To think that I should throw away a perfectly good heater for a crock pot, in favor of purchasing an all new unit? Maybe I'm just being grumbly, but that seems like a tremendous waste. And it's the same thing with air conditioners. Most of the time we all toss them out on the curb, because we can go to Walmart and get a replacement for $70.
And here, in my bedroom, are a half dozen cans from yesterday's soda drinking fest. But those, at least, will go into the recycling bin. And I've decided that since the crock is only cracked, not broken in half, I'm just going to use aluminum foil to line it, next time I use it. I figure that should work just fine. :)
Edit: I just went to the Rival website and they make liners that fill all their models. Cool beans! Now all I have to do is send away for a few packages. :)
