I finally got the potting soil I needed to freshen up the patch under my bedroom window that's surrounded by stone and concrete. In the meantime, the violas I bought to put there were looking a bit careworn. The lavender I planted looks pretty hearty and the violas have sprung back, whee!

I haven't done a garden in a few years. I don't like summer heat and fussing around outside when it feels all icky and nasty. Spring is good, the weather is exactly the way I like it. Good and mild. Summer in Missouri, on the other hand, is only fit for lazing about in pools, it gets so humid and hot here. :P

But! Flowers and I also sowed some seeds in pots, so hopefully those will take off. :)

On less cheerful news, Mom's dog (almost typed god, lol) Fancy is dying. She's gone beyond the time the vet had said she would last and it's just breaking Mom's heart, because the little dog is just getting skinnier and skinnier and there isn't a damn thing anyone can do about it. Mom's going to take Fancy with her when she goes down to Cape to see my niece graduate from highschool. She can't bear the thought of the little dog laying down and going to sleep for the last time and Mom not being there.

She liked the flowers I sent her, it sounded to me like they really cheered her up. I had called a florist local to her, because I just couldn't see paying the $25 delivery fee the internet florists charge. And it's in a little hummingbird teacup, because Mom has always loved the hummingbirds that gather around her honeysuckle every year. :)
